Conservatory Auditions for incoming students
Students who are interested in enrolling in a music degree program or the music minor and have not already auditioned for the conservatory faculty may schedule an audition on Thursday afternoon, August 23. Contact Mrs. MacBeth at macbeth@gettysburg .edu or 717-337-6131 to reserve an audition time. Audition requirements can be found on the conservatory website at /academics/conservatory/admissions/audinfo/
Those who are not pursuing a music major or minor can still participate in the musical experience at the Conservatory! Performing ensembles are open to any student. In fact, these ensembles represent an integrated cross-section of the entire student body.

There are limited slots available to advanced students. Auditions will be during orientation. For the audition, you should be prepared to play two contrasting pieces from two different style periods, preferably including a sonata allegro movement. Your audition does not have to be memorized or a polished performance, but it should give a good idea of your current level of playing.
Students taking lessons have a half-hour private lesson every week, and participate in the piano studio class, Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. There is a fee of $275 per semester. Lessons are worth 0.25 course credit towards the GPA. After four semesters of lessons, students may enroll in MUS 231 for a full credit towards graduation. MUS 231 fulfills the MIR Arts goal of the Gettysburg Curriculum.
To schedule an audition, or for more information, e-mail Dr. Swigger at email@example.com.
For those who don't wish to perform or take a music class - there are other ways to stay connected to music while at Gettysburg College.
The Conservatory performs and hosts a wealth of musical events at venues across campus and throughout town. All students are invited to take advantage of these experiences!
Students with an interest in jazz can live in The Blue Note House, and/or can join The Jazz Appreciation Society - an on-campus group that sponsors an annual swing dance and other jazz related activities.
