About the Conservatory

Welcome to the Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg!

Kay Hoke and Paige KlunkWhether you are a high school student beginning your college search, a parent of a current or prospective student, a music teacher, loyal Gettysburg alum, or someone who is simply interested in learning more about musical activities on campus, I hope our website conveys the passion and collaborative spirit of our conservatory community. Only a handful of colleges offer the combination of a conservatory experience and one of the nation's top liberal arts program; Gettysburg is one of the few. This makes us different.

Here you will be challenged by accomplished faculty members who are dedicated to teaching, performance, and scholarship and by other bright, talented students in the classroom, the practice room, and onstage. You will participate in a program where all solo opportunities with orchestra, bands, choirs, opera, and musicals are won through audition by undergraduate musicians. Each semester you will be able to work with internationally-renowned guest artists and lecturers who come to perform, teach, and share insights about the world of the professional musician. You can take advantage of a broad range of solo, chamber, and large ensemble performance opportunities, while being immersed in a curriculum in which the traditions of classical, jazz, and world musics overlap. We will help you develop skills that will prepare you for the future as a 21st-century musician or for a wide array of career choices. And we will encourage you to experience music in other cultures during a semester or summer abroad.

I invite you to visit our website and then make a visit to campus. See what a Gettysburg education can offer!
