Africana Studies combines a traditional liberal arts perspective with interdisciplinary skills of investigation, analysis, and communication for students of all backgrounds.
Africana Studies offers both a major and a minor.

Jessica was born in Peterborough, England but has spent nearly all of her life in Connecticut. She has worked with Residence Life as an orientation Leader (Fall 2008). She has studied abroad at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa and the ASE program in Bath, England. She served as an editor-in-chief of the Accent Journal, Gettysburg's online journal for the languages. She is using her AFS minor as a way to expand upon her knowledge and love of the African culture.
